Our Story

"Every Kernara tour begins with a simple belief — that the truest way to experience Cornwall is with someone who calls it home."

Cornwall has always attracted visitors. But for most, the experience stops at the surface — the postcard beach, the harbour town, the restaurant they read about on the plane.

The Cornwall that lies beyond all of that — the hidden coves, the ancient stones, the clifftop paths that lead to stories most people never hear — that's always been harder to reach. Not because it's far away, but because you need someone to show you where to look.

That's why we exist.

Kernara
Kernara guides walking the Cornish coast path

We're a team of Cornish guides — born here, raised here, or drawn here decades ago and never able to leave. Between us, we hold Blue Badge qualifications, coastal rescue experience, degrees in history and landscape ecology, and a combined lifetime spent walking every mile of this coastline.

Each of us has designed our own tour around the Cornwall we know most intimately — the places we'd take our closest friends, the restaurants we'd book for our own families, the hotels we'd choose if someone else was picking up the bill.

"Kernara isn't a travel brand that hires guides. It's a family of guides who built a travel brand — because we believe Cornwall deserves better than a coach tour and a cream tea."

"When you see Cornwall through guests' eyes, you're seeing it for the first time again — and that makes me even more proud to call it home."

"Cornwall has castles, coastline, culture, food, music, art — it's too good to keep."
